“119-13 HANDWERCK 5 Germany”.. Stamped on the back of the Bisque Head. This Heinrich Handwerck doll has a pretty Bisque Head on a Composition Body. It measures 29 from head to toe. The right hand is mostly intact, with just a small chip on the pinky finger, and what might be signs of a possible repair of another finger. On the left hand, there is one finger that is completely missing, but the rest of the left hand seems relatively okay. The doll has very blue eyes, which appear to be in good shape, and open and close the way they normally should. The mouth is open, and four top teeth can be clearly seen. The hair color is brown, and is rather thin and unruly. And finally, the overall condition of the composition body seems to be mostly okay, with the exception of an expanded crack thats near the the top of the left thigh (see photos). I do not know if any of the clothing is original to this particular doll, but they are the clothes she was wearing when she was taken out of storage. The clothing consists of the following items: 1 light brown dress with a large brown ribbon, 1 long white under slip, 1 pair of knee-length white bloomers (underware), 1 pair of brown knee socks, 1 pair of black shoes, 1 flower hat, and 1 hand purse. The overall condition of the clothing seems clean, with some pieces being a bit more threadbare than others. The shoes are definitely showing their age, and need to be handled with much care to help prevent any further damage (see photos). This original childhood toy is from a collection of my mother’s old dolls. She was a long-time collector, who traveled to many antique auctions, always keeping an eye out, for old and vintage dolls. I can try to answer questions, but hopefully, the photos will do a better job of pointing out the curious details of the listing.
