Antique Simon & Halbig German Fashion Doll 17 Empress Eugenie French Mkt 1875. Stunning Rare Simon and Halbig Very German Fashion Doll Made For The French Market. Was From The Helen Walters’ Just Folks Museum Collection. Gorgeous Rare Antique German Bisque Head & Shoulder Plate 17 Simon & Halbig Fashion Doll with pierced ears. Made in 1875 For The French Market This Stunning Doll Has A Strawberry Blonde Human Hair Wig. Her delicate face is so beautifully painted. She was named Empress Eugenie. (not sure if this was just from the Museum) She has no markings on her head or her breast plate. (see the photos, there is residue glue from her wig) Her head & breast plate are antique and made of fine bisque porcelain. Her body, I believe was replaced when she was in the care of Ms. It is said that in Staunton VA. People would give there antique dolls to the museum where Ms. Walter would repair them & make them fabulous clothing. From the Victorian era. Empress Eugenie attire is so well made. It is fit for a queen. It is tagged on the underside: JUST FOLKS DOLLHOUSE trade-mark reg. HELEN WALTER, Staunton, VA. Helen Walter had her museum in Staunton VA in the 1940′s. I believe she also created her body as the clothing fits her body perfectly like a glove. This doll’s rare bisque head & Breast plate has no damage or repairs done. Her head is so finely painted. Her feathered brows & lashes are stunning. She has very rosy cheeks. Her blue paper weight. Her face is so serene. Her hair is thick & full. I have not removed the crown for fear of damaging the crown & messing up her hair. She has some glue residue on the back of her head. Her body made well but I think her original body would have been wood with a cloth cover. This fashion dolls body is made of tightly stuffed cloth. Her arms & feet are porcelain. Her feet are painted very lovely to match her gown. Her clothing ensemble: Her clothing was made & patented by Helen. Perhaps she patent the pattern & style. It is so well made. Her bodice & skirt both have linings. Her dress is made of satin & lots of antique lace. Her dress is a gold color & she wears a purple & gold sash fit for royalty. Under her dress she wears frilly white cloth pantaloons & 2 layered slips. Her clothing is beautiful. She wears 2 old bracelet one on each arms, she has pearl pierced earrings & Several layers of pearl necklaces. Because of age some of the pearl coating on the necklace & earrings have started to peel. I tried to take tons of photos of her. If you need to see more photos let me know.
