STUNNING Large German Bisque Child, 1248, SANTA Character doll by Simon and Halbig. Perfect bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner and painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows with sculpting detail and decorative glaze, accented eye corners and nostrils, open mouth, outlined lips, impressed dimples at lip corners and chin, pierced ears, blonde human hair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique white-wear dress and undergarments multylayers white. Marks , head incised in the back: ” 1248 Germany Simon & Halbig S&H 17″ (head) Made in Germany (body in blue ink). Extraordinary model by Simon & Halbig, circa 1900. She has great cotton white dressfabulous antique undies and shirt, antique socks. Maybe she was made for the french market and you can clearly see that from her huge almond shaped eyes and you can really see the delicate details in a head this huge or special commisioned as her bisque is exquisite to rival to the best french bebes dolls She is 38 tall and marked 1248 SH Germany 17. She was born in the later 1800′s to the early 1900s by the Simon Halbig Doll factory for the french market. She has fabulous smooth, creamy, oily bisque with no chips, cracks or hairlines and her coloring is fantastic. She has huge almond shaped, blue glass sleep eyes, all her eye lid wax along with heavy painted lower lashes. She has 4 teeth, full lips and her lip coloring is beautiful and she has a wonderful deep cleft and dimple in her chin. She has the cutest wide pug nose with pudgy rosy cheeks and pieced ears and no chipping. Doll displayed and preserved in non-smoking home, at cabinet allways. Beautiful doll, ready for display.
