19 Baby Sandy Doll by Freundlich 1939-1942 Composition German Baby Doll

For sale today is a vintage Baby Sandy doll by Freundlich. This is a VERY RARE doll that you don’t see everyday! She is an all composition portrait doll of the 1930′s child star, Sandra Henville. I bought this at an estate sale and no nothing about dolls. Appears to be repainted in areas but maybe not. I don’t see a makers mark but I believe it is the doll I have it listed as. Baby Sandy is 19 tall with molded hair and greenish creepy : sleep eyes made. Her lashes are full and her eyes open and close as they should. Baby Sandy has an open mouth with two upper teeth. From what I have researched this doll is from the late 30′s – early 40′s and shows wear accordingly with cracks, chips, crazing and paint rubs. For sale is this antique 18.5 blonde hair, blue eyed German china or porcelain head doll with cloth body. I believe this doll is pre 1900 but has a dress that was made later around early 1900′s when it was handed down in the family. The doll has hand painted china arms, boots, and head but I could not find any maker’s mark. Any research will tell you that this is an antique German doll and not some modern fake or reproduction. The estate from which it came even has a photograph of a family member with this doll as early as 1920. Overall very good condition. Clothes are a little soiled and there is one very small chip to the glazing on the front side of the shoulder harness as you can see in the photo, but this is hidden by the dolls clothing and mentioned only for full accuracy of description. Bisque head is in good condition without chips, cracks, or repairs. Body has nicely strung and has had some touch up painting and a repair on the waist. She doesn’t sit up well unless you lean her against something. All fingers are there. I see paint loss on the shoulders. Happy to answer questions.
