Antique German Bisque Doll Schoenhau & Hoffmeister Mod 1909 withOrg. Clothing
She was the wife of the Baggage Master of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The doll was made by Schoenhau & Hoffmeister of Germany in the early 1920s and she is all original including her 4 piece hand stitched clothing, socks, shoes and ribbon in her hair. She has a socket type bisque head with glass sleep eyes, an open mouth with four small teeth. Her eyelashes were brown mohair but has faded to red. She is marked on the back of her head with a star and the letters PB. The letters “S” and “H” are on either side of the star and it says 1909 6 Germany under the star. She has a ball jointed composition body stamped “Made in Germany” on the back. She has four pieces of handmade clothing: a white lawn dress with lace and silk accents, a white lawn slip for under the dress, a cotton slip and a one piece Pantaloon. Her socks were once blue but are now faded to brown and she also has black vinyl Mary Jane style shoes. She has a blue silk ribbon in her hair and the remnants of blue silk flowers on her dress. Condition: One of her legs has come loose from the torso and needs to be re-attached. She is very loosely strung and the strings need to be tightened. There are splits in the composition on the sides of the torso. Her dress is badly stained and the silk flowers are deteriorating and fragile. Her eyelashes and socks are faded.
