14 Armand Marseille 560. Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany. Bisque Head / Composition Body – Stands Approx. 13½” Tall – Marked: “560 / Germany / A1M” and “DRGM (sideways) This is a rare and sweet-looking 14 Armand Marseille 560 bisque-and-composition doll. He has intaglio blue eyes, an open/closed mouth with two upper teeth, and molded, painted hair on his socket head. He is wearing an antique velvet two-piece outfit with lace trim and eye-hook closures that fits him perfectly and is quite possibly original to him. He also has socks and replacement shoes that look very nice with the outfit. And, of course, he comes with his darling 10 hobby horse! Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No issues found with the bisque after careful examination. He has some well-done touch up on his hands, as well as some chipped fingers on the left hand that are noticeable on close examination. The chipping is mostly toward the inside of the hand. His antique velvet outfit has typical age loss and is “shedding” a bit–which is normal for velvet over 100 years old. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
