17.5 1920′s GERMAN BISQUE BABY BO-KAYE TODDLER DOLL BY JOSEPH KALLUS ORIG BODY
GERMAN BISQUE “BABY BO-KAYE” DESIGNED BY JOSEPH KALLUS. 17-1/2 Tall doll with Bisque head with flanged neck, sculpted brown hair with forelock curls, plump cheeks, blue gray glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, tinted brown, accented nostrils of tiny nose, closed mouth with downcast pouting lips, muslin torso with composition lower legs and arms. Condition: generally excellent on porcelain head, composition limbs very worn with cracking and damage see photos. Kallus Germany and a number under the cloth that looks like 1394/38. Comments: the sweet toddler was designed by the American artist Joseph Kallus, trademarked as “Baby Bo-Kaye” and commissioned by George Borgfeldt from Germany, circa 1920′S. Value: rare doll with very fine quality of bisque and sculpting, costume not in great condition, includes shirt, socks, under pants, shoes. This doll is on from a collection of 8 dolls I will be listing to find new homes for he has been known and loved as Charles for the last 50+ years.
