Early 18 Antique German Wax Over Composition Character Lady Fashion Doll circa 1900 or earlier. She has a slightly turned shoulder-head on a cloth body with composition limbs. She has fixed blue glass eyes, a closed mouth, and a blonde mohair wig that had been applied. Both the cloth body and the clothing appear to be original to the doll. She is wearing an early two-piece velvet suit with lace and fur, which has been hand sewn and is fragile in places, a silk and lace petticoat, cotton and lace bloomers and vest, and silk stockings. There is also an imitation seed pearl necklace. There are several cracks in the wax and what appears to be a maker’s mark on the base of the neckplate. The body is in reasonable condition, with wear consistent with her age. Please study the pictures carefully, as they form part of the description.

Nice body for a German or other doll head. Because of some different colors of the pieces I assume some are not original. They all look very good together in my opinion. About 9 1/4″ with the head opening being about 1 1/4″ outside opening. Does say Germany on the back. Does have scrapes and misc. Abrasions, etc as an older body will. Toes and fingers there. Hard to find in small size. Please take into consideration I have no idea where this doll body has been in it’s lifetime. I also have no idea if all the pieces were orginial to the body. I take my best guess and go with it. Please be realistic and do not expect perfection from an antique item. Antique German Bye Lo baby by Grace Putnam Bisque head cloth body 11. This cutie is made of bisque head, celluloid hands (fingers are missing digits on both hands), and cloth body with bent legs. Early Antique All Bisque German or French Mignonette 6Doll. With perfect bisque face, brown sleep eyes and elaborate mohair hairdo, ribbed socks with beautiful red shoes adorned with black bows. Marked with the same number. 5 on the back of her head as on legs and +1305 on arms. Same + mark is also on her neck. Has dimples on her elbows and knees! Her hands are very detailed as well. Fine quality german half doll likely by Meissen or Dressler & Kister. She is a nice large size and overall is in nice condition besides the right pinky being broken off. Antique Kestner 171 Doll. She is a 31 inch Kestner 171 doll. Her head only has the marking of the country of origin:”made in Germany” but not of the mold number. Some antique dolls did not have the mold. Number and it’s because they were produced to sell abroad to other doll makers who can put them in other bodies. She comes to you dressed in an antique white dress pajama slip with tulle inner slip. She also comes with a second outfit-blue velvet jacket, white spring cotton dress and hat. Her shoes are handmade and I believe vintage. This gorgeous doll has tight stringing. Her joints are completely free. They were once attached to the extremes through composition material that attached the joints to the legs but now it’s just the ball joints attached with rope. As you can see, the doll can stand just fine with a stand. She wears a blonde curly synthetic wig as the character from Charles Burton’s “A Special Pleader” painting. She also comes with a HUMAN HAIR wig-light brown for her blue velvet jacket and dress look. She looks very beautiful with her lovely coloring which is not easy to find.
