Rare Large 25 Sonneberg Child. Straight Wrists – Closed Mouth – Cork Pate. Beautiful Doe Eyes – Fabulous Ou tfit. Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany c. This large and beautiful doe-eyed early German Sonneberg child is just the “pink of perfection” — such large brown paperweight eyes in a sweet, rosy softly-painted face with a closed mouth and lips parted in a dreamy expression. She is quite unique and exceptional to display, and bears a resemblance to the Jumeau bébés of that era. She has a very early straight-wrist body with free-float ball joints at the shoulders and hips. She’s wearing a full, beautifully handcrafted honey-blond mohair wig in softly arranged ringlets and bangs on her original cork pate. She is decked out in an amazing, professionally handcrafted pink brocade dress with intricate silk ribbon embroidery and lace, unique collar, and painstaking embellishments. The dress has its original tag from AR-GE Dolls in Pennsylvania, which dates it circa 1970s-1990s. She also has three-piece undergarments, antique socks, and shoes. To complete her outfit, she is wearing teardrop earrings in her pierced ears. This rare doll typically sells for much more when she does come to market, but she comes to you at a bargain price in keeping with her condition (below). She is incised “136 16″ and stands approx. As to be expected with these early Sonneberg dolls, the body was made of a heavier composition than later dolls from Germany; the doll weighs almost 6 lbs. So, for example, she does not pose with her arms lifted even though her stringing is adequate, due to the heavier material. And she should be displayed either standing with the assistance of a doll stand (which can be discreetly concealed beneath her outfit), or else seated. Again, this is totally normal for this type of large, early Sonneberg doll. PHOTO PROPS NOT INCLUDED: Doll Stand, Chair, Doily. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. She has a professionally restored hairline — invisible, in my opinion — that runs horizontally across her forehead (see final photo) under her lovely bangs. Also small flakes at the pierced ear holes. No other issues found with the bisque after careful examination. Her body has its original surface, with some professional touch-ups, such as the repaired finger on her right hand (see photo). The shoes are quite old and have some age weakening/loss to the oilcloth in spots. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. They are to be expected. I’LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER. Provided it’s rated the same (or faster) than the service you chose. WHAT, NOTHING TO COMBINE! ? (opens in a separate window/tab)… Where you’ll find more top-quality antiques/collectibles/artwork/dolls/and more! Significantly not as described: A. Flaw or discrepancy vs. What was stated in the listing. As often happens, it’s the few bad apples out there who ruin it for the rest of us. Not knowing what they’re doing. And then, when they realize they’ve ruined the doll, they return it saying it was defective. BUT HAVING SAID ALL THAT.. I do bend over backwards, attempting to disclose any noteworthy condition issues I can find or think of. But these are antique and vintage dolls — so, please understand that they won’t be in brand-new condition. There will always be some minor indication of their age, and it would be impossible to itemize every single pinhead-size stain on the outfit, or hairline scratch on the body. Please expect these types of conditions with old dolls. IT CONTAINS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION. This item is in the category “Dolls & Bears\Dolls, Clothing & Accessories\Dolls & Doll Playsets”.
