20 ABG Mold 784. Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany – Late 1800s. This is a simply gorgeous 20 Parian doll in excellent condition and beautifully outfitted in Victorian style. She is Alt, Beck, & Gottschalck’s lovely mold #784, with the distinctive drop curl on the right side of her forehead. She is decked out in an amazing two-piece antique dress in green and ecru with ruffles, pleats, soutache, lace, and buttons. She looks lovely in it, especially with her fine (added) bonnet hat. Her three-piece underclothes appear to be antique as well. She is lovely to display, and will be a great addition to any collection. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. No issues found with the bisque after careful examination. She does have a kiln speck to the left of her mouth, which resembles a beauty mark. Her body is very firm; it appears to have no condition issues and does not leak sawdust. She has leather hands in overall good condition EXCEPT that there is a repair to stabilize the back of her right hand. When she is on display, this repair is noticeable on close examination from behind. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not.
