Antique Bisque German Boy Doll, So-called American School Boy on Leather Body, B
Offered for sale is an antique bisque boy doll on a leather body with bisque arms. The doll is 18 inches tall with brown paper weight, stationary eyes. It has molded and painted hair with a side part. The mouth is closed. The neck is stationary. It is nicely dressed in a white cotton two piece, belted suit with braid trim and navy blue buttons. It has newer shoes. The body is tinted pink and is fully jointed. The body is nicer than bodies I have seen with this head, so it might not be the original, but the head fits very nicely. The doll is not marked on the head nor body. This doll is often referred to as the American School Boy. The head and the body are in beautiful condition with nor damage nor issues. TWO lovely googly bisque dolls by Hertel & Schwab – folding wooden box which opens up into a classroom. Boy and girl with painted bisque heads – lovely blue glass eyes, cute big smile melon shaped mouth and composition body. Both are carefully and exquisitely dressed. Both carry a typical German school cone /candy cone They have each their own leather satchel with metal buckles, plus a slate board in a wooden frame with pencil. There are also school books and two maps. In the middle of the box there is a globe made of porcelain with a wooden stand, four school books and an abacus made of wood and metal. Each item is fixed to the box with strings. The box is made of hardwood and stamped. When the box opens it will stand safely and present itself like a painting.
