This is a very pretty Sonneberg Bahr & Proschild # 183 doll made for the French Market. She is 18 tall and is marked 183 on the back of the head. No hairlines, repairs or chips. There is a hole on the top of the head as shown that I appears to have been made to restring. Beautiful face with great color and nicely painted lips. She is on her original body with all fingers and toes. It Has some repair/repaint to the neck area, right fingers, and knee joints. Some light touch up and and some chips as shown. It is tightly strung and will hold a pose. She has vintage and antique clothes with a vintage human hair French wig. She is a very pretty doll and is ready to be displayed. Up for grabs is a wonderful doll with Belton head, flat top with 3 string holes and original skin wig. She has straight wrists making her early and all fingers present. Head perfect but could have a flake off. One earring hole on her applied ears. She has perfectly matched paperweight eyes that are beautifully. Set Narrow and perfectly painted eyebrows. The eyelashes are also very delicately painted. She has been in my personal. Collection for over 10 years. She is about 140 years old and has been carefully kept all this time. To the body which is from age. White bisque and no damage to the painting. She is free of. Hairlines or damage to the bisque in any way. She came with her white dress, long slip and half slip, wool stockings and leather shoes that are much newer. I made her a velvet cape from 1920 silk velvet and antique lace. Antique 14 FRENCH TRADE BELTON 121 Circa 1890 Closed Mouth with ORIGINAL Mohair Wig. What a wonderful cabinet sized doll that has wonderful light blue spiral paperweight eyes, closed mouth, original blond mohair wig that is full and retains most of its curl on a fully jointed Sonneberg (see the pictures) composition and wood body. She is also guaranteed to be on her original antique Sonneberg doll body and was made in Germany circa 1880- 1890. PLEASE SEE PICTURES TO GET FULL IDEA OF THIS WONDERFUL DOLL. 14 tall which is typical for most Belton dolls. The head of this Belton doll shows three (3) stringing holes on top of her flat head mounted on a fully jointed Sonneberg composition and wood 9 ball-jointed body (typical of this type of doll) with straight wrists and ankles. The wooden joints on the doll are larger and depict the Sonneberg type. It is the angelic expression on the face of this doll which makes her desirable. She has the look. She was probably made in Germany for the French market and the face was fashioned from the more expensive portrait Jumeau doll series. She has expert and delicate blushing of the cheeks in a light pinky-peach shade, two subtle dots for the nostrils, painted upper and lower eyelashes, multi-stroke flat and thinner eyebrows (not the thick eyebrows seen with Depose or Tete Jumeau models, but the thinner ones seen with portrait Jumeau dolls), closed mouth with shading and accented lines with a white area between the lips so it has the appearance as if she is going to speak , and square cheeks. She is incredibly beautiful. The large light blue-gray spiral paperweight glass eyes that are fixed, as is seen with most Belton (closed heads that have very small holes which could not accommodate an eye mechanism)see picture. The eyes are expertly placed and are symmetric from side to side. She also has pierced ears with pretty pin glass bead earrings. She is on her original 9 ball-jointed wood composition body has a shape depicting an older child or young womans body. Intact (but not functional) crier pull strings-one a clear bead and one a tan color bead. The body has a 1 X 1.25 opening in the back that has a metal mesh over it to allow the crier to have worked. Antique and ORIGINAL light blonde mohair wig with a delightful curly set. Markings incised at the back of the neck. 121 (by one of the top holes in the crown of the head). She is securely strung and must not be the original stringing since she has a replacement thigh. Her MATCHING ALL coordinated and designer made clothing based on vintage and antique fabrics were made by Gabriella. They are in excellent condition, are well-constructed, typifies a French doll, and includes. Medium rose colored expensive Dupioni silk French Bebe one-piece dress that has the appearance of a two-piece outfit. It includes a box-pleated skirt, drop-waisted bodice with ecru (light tan) lace in the overlay to the front bodice and sleeves with decorative stitching, and used as side collars and an over-slip for the sides and back of the bodice. Four (4) small round mother-of-pearl buttons are the closure for the back of this dress. Eight (8) tiny round mother-of-pearl buttons decorate the bodice. She has an attached cream colored silk half-slip with a lace trim around the bottom. Cream colored pantelettes/ bloomers with horizontal pleats a one-button MOP closure on the left side and an eyelet trim bottom. These extend just beyond the knee. Ecru knit knee-high stockings with antique pink leather shoes with silver metal buckles. Vintage straw bowler hat with black velvet band and velvet applied flowers. There is good quality very pale bisque with expert and delicate painting of features and crisp modeling. She has perfect bisque head that is free of hairlines, cracks, or restoration. There are a few isolated small pepper spots (left nostril, left lip and right chin) inherent to the bisque and a slight nose rub. She does have a 1mm chip on the insertion of the earring in the right ear lobe. She is still on her original composition 9 ball-jointed body. The condition issues of the body are very good (and as stated above the crier mechanism does not work). There has been a professional repaint of the entire body and it is tinted pink and replicates the original shiny surface. The right upper thigh is an antique replacement and is well sized but reversed. Some wear on joints and bodyplease view pictures. The tips of the right fingers are worn but not missing (see picture). This doll is in such excellent shape considering her age. Because of her French look, she is priced accordingly. At the time, Ms. Linda Edwards DOLL VALUES 12. This is a wonderful antique French face Belton Sonnenberg standing 22 inches tall. She is on her early ball jointed body and her bisque is beautiful with no chips cracks or repairs. She has a stunning face with large almond shaped deep brown set paperweight eyes, exquisite painting, and closed mouth that is delicately outlined and shaded. Her quality of bisque is exceptional and her coloring is stunning in person. Her eyes are like brown velvet, soft and luminous. This gorgeous girl has an extra long human hair wig that falls in curls past her waist. She wears an exquisite high quality seamstress made dress of vintage lace with antique ribbon and ribbon work trim. It has attached lining and closes in the back with hooks and eyes. It fits her perfectly. Underneath she wears antique slip and Pantaloons. She has crochet socks and leather shoes with ribbon ties. Her composition body is in good condition, it is strung a bit loosely but she will stand freely. She has been restrung at some point. She has some old repaint to her forearms and hands. The paint/finish shows scratching and scuffing, as expected. She is incised 137 14. Her bisque is excellent and beautiful with no damage or repair. She has large blue glass stationary eyes framed with hand painted lashes open mouse and 5 tiny French style teeth, creamy bisque with rosy blush and small dimple on her chin, pierced ears with small earrings, human hair raspberry wig, dressed in antique pink cotton organza dress and marching full slip, antique white pantaloons with cotton lace, antique shoes and socks. This is a stunning early Closed Mouth German doll on an early straight wristed Ball Jointed body. Her blue glass spiral threaded eyes are gorgeous and unique. They are a unique mixture of blue with off white threading. She has lovely Bisque with no damage or repairs to her head. Lighted photos are available upon request. Her eyes are framed with long delicate lashes and multi stroke brows. The beauty was definitely made for the French trade with her large almond cut eyes, dark eyeliner and pierced ears. Her closed mouth and pouty expression are so sweet! This girl is on her original ball Jointed early body with straight wrists. The body is in very good condition for its age with possibly an old repair to one foot. She is strung fairly well, a bit loose. There is old tape on her head that is dried on from many years. There is a lighter place on the back of the head from wig removal and old glue removal. No damage or repair to her bisque. She is incised “S13″ on the back of her head. She stands 23 tall. She has a wonderful strawberry blonde long replaced human hair wig that falls in loose curls to her waist. She has a replaced pate.
